Head Sculpture
My last project i completed was my head. I decided to make it based on my friend Griffin Douglas. First i had to put together a head and shoulders made out of paper. Then i had to plastic wrap it so the clay would stick to the paper. After i had to place clay onto the plastic wrap with details of his face. Ater i finished that step i had to fire it in the kiln.
Bowl
After i finished my rattle i made a bowl. My first step was to kneed a ball of clay. After i had to center it on the wheel. After this i had to make a hole int he middle of the clay and widen it. When i was finished on the wheel i had to fire it in the kiln. When it came out of the kiln i dipped it in the high fire glazes and then fired it again. When it came out of the kiln i could take it home and possibly use it.
Rattle
My next project was my rattle. My first step in completeing this step was to make two pinch pots about the same size. Then i had to slip and score the tops of both of them. After i attached them and made it into the shape of a dice. Then i poked holes into all the sides to not make it blow up while firing it. Next i had to fire it in the kiln, then i painted blue with the low fire glazes. When i was finished painting i had to fire it for the last time to make it shiny. When it came out of the kiln i could take it home.
Cylinder
For my cylinder i had to use the wheel. The first step i had to kneed the ball of clay, then i had to center it. Next i had to put a hole in the middle of the clay. After i completed that step i had to widen the cylinder about 4 inches. Next i had to raise the clay till it rached 6 inches. When i was finished on the wheel i had to fire the cylinder in the kin. Then i had to dipped the cylinder in the high fire glazes. Lastly i had to fire it again.
Coil Pot
This is my coil pot, it is dark blue and shiny. I first had to role out a slab of clay then cut out long strips of clay. Next i had to role out long snake light strip. After this i had to put it in the kiln and fire it. When i came out of the kiln i dipped it in the low glaze and then had to fire it in the kiln one more time. When it came out it was time for me to take it home.
